achtung! is Agency of the Year
The award for “Agency of the Year” goes to Hamburg this year. achtung! was voted Europe's best agency at the European Excellence Awards. The agency founded by Mirko Kaminski in 2001 was announced as the winner at a gala celebration in Lisbon last Friday. achtung! came out on top against four competitors in the final. The decision was reached by a jury comprised of the heads of communication of large international companies and the CEOs of international agencies.
In addition, the community campaign “LIFEBOAT – the Experiment”, developed by achtung! and Serviceplan for the NGO Sea-Watch, was voted Campaign of the Year. The project, which documented 50 Germans who relived the fate of refugees fleeing by boat in a small inflatable dinghy, in the dark and surrounded by turbulent waves, received an award in both the “NGOs & Associations” and the “Public Affairs” category. achtung! is thus the first agency in the history of the European Excellence Awards to win the two top titles – “Agency of the Year” and “Campaign of the Year” – in addition to two other awards. Two weeks before that, achtung! had already been voted “Agency of the Year” in Germany at the PR Report Awards in Berlin.
achtung! was initially established as a PR agency and is today one of Germany’s most creative agency groups with a staff of 170, most of whom are based in Hamburg. achtung! combines social media, PR, digital advertising and audio communication with exceptional ideas.

”achtung! has been growing as a business for 18 consecutive years. It pursues an internationalisation strategy and manages the LUFTHANSA GROUP’s global communications from Germany, for example. In June this year, the agency group will organise #DIGITALKINDERKARTEN, a festival that presents technological innovations, for the fourth time in Hamburg’s Millerntor-Stadion. The agency also works closely with other advertising agencies, as in the case of the “LIFEBOAT – the Experiment” project, for example. achtung! offers entrepreneurs a platform to establish their own agency, most recently in the areas of podcasts and eSports.
achtung! now comprises a total of six agencies: achtung!, achtung! Engage, achtung! Experience, achtung! Mary, achtung! Broadcast and achtung! Alive. Together they service more than 50 renowned brands, including BMW, Telefónica/O2, Coca-Cola, eBay, E.ON, MINI and mobile.de.
