achtung! brings back “The Hoff”
New mobile.de campaign
In a new online campaign, mobile.de sends iconic actor David Hasselhoff on a manhunt. However, it’s not like the glorious 1980s when he was out and about in his high-tech Knight Rider car, this time he is on two wheels for the Moped Ridervideo. Whether he has backed the right vehicle or not is revealed at the end of the two-minute, tongue-in-cheek video, which can be seen on social media and a separate landing page from today.
In the entertaining video, which is sure to please nostalgic TV fans and everyone else, it quickly becomes clear that despite its cult features, including a “Super Power Mode”, the singer and actor has chosen the wrong co-star in this vehicle. In real life, that would not happen of course, especially as the automotive reality has long since overtaken the television utopia: “Thirty-six years after the series was filmed, cars can actually talk now, they drive autonomously and they have artificial intelligence – everything that we had imagined back then. It’s incredible”, says Hasselhoff.
In addition to the video, the campaign is also accompanied by other online and social media activities, including a Facebook competition, reaction videos and specially created GIFs featuring David Hasselhoff. The integrated campaign was managed as a joint project by mobile.de’s PR and Marketing divisions, whileHamburg-based achtung! was the lead agency responsible for the campaign.The video was produced in Bucharest by BigFish.
