Achtung! buys land and reforests

The climate won't save itself. That is why, since 2021, we have not only been an agency, but also the proud owner of a total of 9 hectares of forest.

We invest in the purchase and reforestation of land previously used for agriculture. We made a start in 2021 with 3 hectares of previously intensively farmed land in Braak near Hamburg in Schleswig-Holstein. In 2022, we added 6 hectares of land in Nordhastedt near Heide.

All of the Achtung! forest areas are to become mixed forest, as it characterized Europe a long time ago. To this end, we planted around 12,000 birch, beech and oak trees on the Braak site in fall 2021. The first part in Nordhastedt was planted in spring 2023. The second part in May 2024. In total, around 40,000 trees are now growing in our forest areas. More are to be added every year, which will then also be reforested.

Our contribution to environmental and climate protection

Mirko Kaminski, our founder and CEO of the Achtung! family of agencies
"We want to do more for the environment and for sustainability. That is why we are investing in the purchase of land and its reforestation."

By reforesting land that was previously used intensively for agriculture, Achtung! wants to make a contribution to environmental and, in particular, climate protection.

Thorsten Beckmann, our CFO, is responsible for the program:
"We also take standard measures when it comes to sustainability. But we had the feeling that we should do more. In the coming years, we will gradually increase the area of forest together with our customers and employees."

Supporter

Our Achtung! Forest has prominent support. The foresters from Wohlleben's forest academy are supporting and advising us on this project.

Peter Wohlleben: "Reforesting areas is an important task. Forests are the key to combating climate change. They cool, absorb CO2, provide oxygen and more rain and protect biodiversity."

40.000
Bäume

In addition to lime trees, oaks and beeches, sycamore, hornbeam, bird cherry and service tree grow in the Achtung! Forest. Native shrub species such as hawthorn and hazelnut also thrive here.

In other words: We are bringing back the mixed forest that shaped Europe a long time ago, before it fell victim to extensive agriculture.

To coincide with 🌳 "Forest Day 2024" 🌳 our Achtung! Forest areas receive flowers as a gift.

The refuges for wild bees are being created along the Achtung! forest areas in Braak and Nordhastedt and add more than just bright colors to the 9 hectares of land. They provide space and food for wild bees and other insects.

Sebastian Krahn
(Senior Art Director, Hamburg):

I think it's great that with the Achtung! Wald initiative enables us to make a contribution to climate protection that goes beyond the usual measures. The regional proximity makes it very exciting to see the progress and the impact 'liveʻ."

Lucie Viktoria Kieschke
(Working student, Berlin):

I think it's great. After work and on my days off, I like to recharge my batteries in nature. So it's even nicer that my own employer is committed to protecting and preserving nature. I am thrilled.

Kerstin Heß
(Director Agency Activation, Hamburg):

The Achtung! Forest is not just a simple commitment to sustainability. It is much more: it is a place of awareness for us and shows us that we can all do something to protect our planet and the climate - especially as a communications agency.
